America marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11

25 years later • Americans are remembering and reflecting upon the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks on September 11, 2001 — a day that changed the world. Events and tributes commemorating the solemn occasion are taking place across the US, including in New York City and Washington, DC.

• President Donald Trump delivered remarks at the Pentagon this morning. All living former presidents are attending a ceremony marking the anniversary in New York City. • Earlier this week, New York City released more than 170,000 pages of previously undisclosed records about air quality following the attacks, showing city officials at the time knew conditions around ground zero were unsafe. This year, a new seventh moment of silence will be held during the NYC commemoration ceremony for the thousands of people who have died from diseases linked to exposure to the toxic ash and rubble of the World Trade Center.
